Caring For Your Terrarium

We take the upmost care when creating and maintaining all of our Terrariums to ensure they are in the best possible condition when you buy them. Following our guide will help you to make sure that your Terrarium thrives for years to come.

How to water your terrarium

Watering

Most terrariums only need minimal watering you should only need to do this every 6-12 months at the very most.

Check the soil to see if it’s dry. Dry soil will be lighter in colour. If the soil is dry use a spray bottle or dropper to lightly mist the soil.

Avoid overwatering, as excess moisture can lead to mould growth or plant rot.

How to clean your terrarium

Cleaning

Your terrarium will rarely need cleaning, however if smudges or dirt do appear:

Gently wipe the glass with a soft, damp cloth .

Avoid using chemical cleaners, as they may harm the plants.

A brush can be used to remove soil or debris from the glass.

where to place your terrarium

Placement

Like any other living thing your terrarium needs to be happy with it’s environment

Light: Place your terrarium in indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight can overheat the glass and harm the plants.

Environment: Keep your terrarium in a stable room temperature environment (between 15°C and 25°C). Avoid placing it near radiators, air conditioners, or drafty windows.

how to deal with terrarium steam or condensation

Steam or Condensation

If condensation appears on the inside of the glass this can be totally normal, however prolonged condensation can be a sign of excess humidity.

If you notice condensation on the Glass, keep an eye on your Terrarium over the next few hours, if it clears just check back periodically.

If your Terrarium repeatedly steams up or condensation occurs for more than a few hours open the lid for a few hours to allow moisture to escape, then check the soil before closing.

how to deal with mould or rot in your terrarium

Mould or Rot

Should mould arise, it is important to act quickly.

Remove the affected areas using tweezers or a small tool.

Gently spray the spot with a diluted mixture of water and white vinegar (1:10 ratio).

Ensure ventilation afterward for 2-3 hours.
